What should I be thinking about?

How would Paul summarize things? Well, he would suggest that I fill my mind on some things that are positive. Not the power of positive thinking but something way beyond that. I need to practice these things. Peace will be mine if I do. There is a blessing attached to this.

Here are some ideas he suggests to me to think on and contemplate about:

  • What is true

  • What is so amazingly noble

  • Who has a reputation for being Godly and who is authentic

  • What is God compelling me to do in His power

  • What do I know about God's gracious nature

  • The best that I have seen Jesus do

  • Things that are so amazingly beautiful

  • All I have to give thanks and praise for


Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

"Do not be anxious about anything." ~~Apostle Paul

My part is to rejoice. God is so very good and He is always in this amazing mood. Jesus has a mission to bring Good News to me. Am I hearing bad news? It is a lie then. That is from my enemy Satan. So, I will rejoice at the good God is doing now.
 
I need to talk with my Father, ask Him for what I need, and be thankful in my conversations with Him. He knows what I need and will do more than I can imagine.
 
I don't understand it, but as a result, His peace is mine. I can rest and relax. His peace is at attention in my heart. He is protecting me and the enemy can't reach my heart.



Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-9

Iron out our differences

We are God's children. Now think about it. He has forgiven us. How does he want us to act? Does He want us to hold grudges? Does He want us to forgive, iron out our differences and make up?  

He has a new way for us and it is not what we think. His goal is for us to love not to hate. In His Spirit, we have the power to live that way. Children can get along. Hard to imagine but it is true.
 I urge Euodia and Syntyche to iron out their differences and make up. God doesn't want his children holding grudges. Phillipians 4:2

His strength makes me happy

I can't say, as Paul did, that I have learned to be completely content and happy. But I am learning and I want to mature in this area. The secret is to live in His strength and power. When I seek His desire, I have confidence that He will strenghten me. That is happening. When I wander off on my own, oh boy, I can never be glad in God and happy.

The other area that helps me be happy is knowing who I am in Him. I am fully redeemed and His child. Knowing that strengthens me. Whoo Hoo!!!
I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am .... I have learned the secret of .... both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:11-13
